Poker Brat's statement is causing quite a stir: "it no longer makes sense"

By uttering the following phrase, "We're handing out over 300 bracelets a year, it's completely pointless," a scathing comment that's gaining traction, the world's greatest bracelet collector, Phil Hellmuth himself, has once again stirred things up! The record holder with 17 WSOP titles dropped this bombshell during an interview with CardPlayer. While he may have exaggerated, as is often the case, by mentioning the figure of 300, it's worth noting that 234 bracelets will be awarded in 2025...

In Phil Hellmuth's sights—and those of other big names in poker, such as Daniel Negreanu, who is trying to influence his sponsor GGpoker, a partner of the World Series—are the online events, which are far too numerous and of extremely diluted appeal. The American then cited a telling example: a $300 online tournament with 37 players, arguing that such an event shouldn't award the prestigious trophy. For once, it's difficult to criticize Hellmuth; his threat to one day stop playing the WSOP if the situation continues carries more weight than his suggestion to boycott the Main Event for a day off.
