2,387 players, 66 nationalities, over €2.2 million up for grabs. Monte-Carlo didn’t flinch.
The Riviera was buzzing from the very first days of the festival with a tournament already making EPT history.
A thunderous start on the Rock
From the very start, the atmosphere was electric inside the Sporting Monte-Carlo. The PokerStars Open, the opening event of the EPT 2025, shattered all standards: 2,387 entries – including 1,198 unique players from 66 countries – for a total prize pool of €2,291,520. A spectacular jump compared to previous years.
The four Day 1 flights were ruthless:
Day 1A: 594 players – 89 survivors
Day 1B: 157 players – 24 survivors
Day 1C: 1,138 players – 171 survivors
Day 1D: 498 players – 74 survivors
Each Day 1 ended once 15% of the field remained, ensuring a min-cash for those reaching Day 2. Result: 358 players still in contention, all in the money, including 120 French players still aiming for the title.
A highlight of the 2025 edition: the final table will introduce a revolutionary blind structure, based not on time but on the number of hands played per level. An innovation set to boost suspense and reward true poker skill.
The tournament is set to conclude on Sunday, May 4, with a final sprint that many dream of winning under the EPT spotlight.
