Mateo Decourcelle, the crowning of a young star

He did it! Mateo Decourcelle became the grand winner of the Grand Prix ParionsSport en ligne Gujan-Mestras, claiming the magnificent trophy along with a prize of €15,000, his greatest career title to date. By triumphing over a field of 346 entries, and after a heads-up victory against Hamid El Khayati, Mateo reached a crucial milestone in his young career.

At 26 years old, having previously accumulated just over $10,000 in winnings, he has now secured his finest victory. An even more impressive performance considering he made his mark from Day 1A by finishing 7th, before solidifying his position on Day 2 thanks to a strategic power surge.

"From the last three tables onward, it was pretty much straight ahead," he confides, bolstered by his many blinds and solid play. With few all-in situations, Mateo masterfully handled the pressure to enter the final table as the big stack.

During the final stretch, his sense of timing and perfect understanding of ICM made the difference. "With five players left, I felt the pressure mount among my opponents, allowing me to take the lead," he analyzes. Preflop, he knew exactly where to press to soar to victory.
