"From the last three tables onward, it was pretty much straight ahead," he confides, bolstered by his many blinds and solid play. With few all-in situations, Mateo masterfully handled the pressure to enter the final table as the big stack.
During the final stretch, his sense of timing and perfect understanding of ICM made the difference. "With five players left, I felt the pressure mount among my opponents, allowing me to take the lead," he analyzes. Preflop, he knew exactly where to press to soar to victory.
