The cards were flying low, and the alcohol was flowing freely. In Beaumont-de-Lomagne, a poker game between four friends spiraled into extreme violence, leaving one of them seriously injured.
When the game spirals into an immediate court hearing
On the night of April 4 to 5, 2025, the mood was relaxed among the four poker companions. But around 3 a.m., tensions rose. Insults were exchanged, and suddenly, three players turned on the fourth, beating him with punches and kicks. The victim, a 36-year-old man, was rescued and prescribed five days of total incapacity for work (ITT).
The gendarmes, alerted, quickly arrested the three suspected attackers, aged 18, 20, and 23. Their explanations did not convince the investigators. Two of them were brought before the Montauban public prosecutor. The oldest was placed in provisional detention at the Beausoleil prison, while the youngest was placed under judicial supervision. The third individual was released due to insufficient evidence.
This Friday, April 11, the two main suspects will appear before the Montauban Judicial Court in immediate appearance. This case sadly reminds us that alcohol and gambling can form a dangerous mix, turning a friendly evening into a legal nightmare.
