With 95 entries, this 20,000 Dirham (1,900 euros) High Roller perfectly kicked off the highly anticipated Marrakech Poker Open, a must-see event on the circuit celebrating the 20th anniversary of poker at Es Saadi. A winner worthy of such an event was needed, and it was Benjamin Hammann who claimed his first victory in Morocco by defeating Mounir Tajiou, his final opponent, in a one-sided heads-up match.
Already a winner of the BPT Ribeauvillé and Toulouse, and the Battle Ko at the WPO Madrid, the recent third-place finisher at the WPO Bratislava won 400,000 MAD (€38,000, including a bottle of Chivas and a trophy). Speaking to clubpoker, the winner, who started the final in the chip leader's chair, said he had an exceptional day "consistently finding play post-flop." Mehdi Hsissen climbed to the third step of the podium, while Hassan Fares, Hugues Girard and Nicolas Noguera reached the TF.
