Alan Keating wins the biggest pot in High Stakes Poker history

With Rick Salomon, Alan Keating, Nik Airball, and Peter Wang, this episode of Season 14 of High Stakes Poker — filmed in the PokerGO studios in Vegas — reached new heights in terms of stakes. This was best illustrated by a record-breaking pot played between pro Alan Keating and Peter Wang, an Asian-born player who has now become a regular in this prestigious game.

With blinds at $500/$1,000 — apparently not high enough for the participants — two straddles were in play, prompting Keating to just call with pocket kings. From the big blind, Wang decided to raise to $14,000 with {As} {3s}. The perfect moment for Keating to spring into action, 3-betting to $69,000, which Wang called.

The flop {2s} {Js} {Kc} gave Keating top set and Wang a nut flush draw. The Asian player opted for a check-raise to $200,000 after Keating’s $70,000 continuation bet — a raise that Keating quickly called. The {Ah} on the turn didn’t slow Wang down, who instantly shoved for $412,500 — again, called by Keating. The two players agreed to run it twice: the first river {Ad}, the second {Jd}, giving Alan Keating the entire pot of $1,412,500. A new record for the franchise, smashing the previous high of $992,000 set back in Season 12.
