The talented and highly regarded American, who won three WSOP bracelets, died on February 9, 2024.
For many years, John Anthony Cernuto, better known by his stage name 'Miami John Cernuto', brought joy to tournament tables with his legendary good humor, particularly at the WSOP, an event he would never miss. A formidable specialist in variants, the American won three bracelets around the year 2000 (between 1996 and 2002) in three different disciplines. He also built an impressive resume with 85 victories, winning $6.7 million in live events.

A successful career in poker that this engineer by training owes in large part to Ronald Reagan and his drastic federal spending cuts program in the early 1980s. Fired from his job as an air traffic controller, John Anthony was heading towards professional poker, becoming the successful Miami Cernuto we all know! This great player, a gentleman of poker, died of colon cancer. He was 81 years old on January 10 last year. In 2023, he still competed at the WSOP, finishing in the money every year. Thank you for everything, Mr. Miami.
